The trio is based in Udine (IT), the so-called capital of the war, and plays cinematic music with post-atomic vibes. Being involved for many years in the italian experimental music scene with other bands, they decide to create a new musical project in 2012. As the soundtrack on the cinematographic film does, they work closely with the video medium through the collaboration with several visual artists. In 2014 they meet Eleonora Sovrani, a videoartist whose focus lies in the relationship between visual language, social dynamics and artistic practice. This close collaboration gives birth to many performative, intermedial, audiovisual live pieces, installations, some touring across Europe, and two LPs: Iceberg (October 2015, self-released) and About Fallout (February 2017, self-released). A journey made of sounds and moving images that develop simultaneously, starting from a familiar atmosphere to lead us into a dematerialized and dreamlike dimension. About Fallout is also the name of The Mechanical Tales’ audio-visual performance that aims to trace a continuous round-trip motion through the paradoxes that permeate human relationships, social structures, the no man's land and the borders. Like political borders, traced from above with arrogant abstraction, they have the power to exclude, reject, and deny the citizenship right. The 7-metre-long Leporello illustrates the first day of the Battle of the Somme: a work that embodies the madness of the First World War, in which thousands of soldiers died. A multitude that becomes "a single organism, composed of hundreds of thousands of mostly enthusiastic men, engaged in opening a road to transport a large portion of itself along a trampoline suspended over the future and advancing towards objectives set according to a predetermined program". (Joe Sacco). The installation was conceived as an introduction to the exhibition L'offensiva di carta, presented at the Udine Castle in April 2017. The performance spreads from several locations in the cave, which come to meet and merge during its development, when the viewer is invited to explore freely the space. The cave’s morphology recalls the constellation of Cancer, which recalls the form of the mother's womb, and symbolizes the wave of time, the renewal of life. The two images projected during the performance in two different locations connect two evolving realities and two inverse movements: the forest advancing together with depopulation and a new a community that finds space far from its place of origin. Spontaneous singing is the bridge between them.
